so your skin looks dull and you don't know why?

yeah i've been there.

like you're doing all the things. washing your face. using products. trying to take care of your skin.

but it still looks... meh.

turns out i was making a bunch of mistakes without even realizing it.

here's what i figured out.

first one. scrubbing too hard.

i used to think if i scrubbed my face really well, it would be cleaner.

like really go at it. exfoliating brush. rough towel. all of it.

big mistake.

your face isn't a dirty pan. you don't need to scrub it like one.

gentle cleanser. clean fingertips. that's enough.

and lukewarm water. not hot. hot water strips your skin.

pat dry. don't rub.

your skin will thank you.

second. skipping moisturizer.

i used to do this all the time.

my skin was oily so i thought moisturizer would make it worse.

dumbest thing ever.

when your skin is dry, it panics. produces more oil to protect itself.

so my face got oilier because i wasn't moisturizing.

makes no sense but that's how it works.

if you're oily, use something light. gel or lotion.

if you're dry, use something thicker.

just use something. anything.

third. forgetting sunscreen.

i know. you're tired of hearing this.

but seriously.

not just summer. not just sunny days. every day.

uv rays don't care about clouds. they don't care if it's winter.

they still mess with your skin.

dark spots. wrinkles. uneven tone. all that stuff.

find one you don't hate. something light.

make it a habit. like brushing your teeth.

fourth. changing products too much.

okay this was me.

new product comes out. i buy it. use it for a week. don't see results. buy something else.

my skin was so confused.

you can't tell what's working if you keep changing everything.

introduce things slowly. give them time.

like at least a few weeks. maybe more.

and don't start multiple new products at once. if something goes wrong, you won't know which one caused it.

fifth. over-exfoliating.

exfoliating feels good. your skin feels smooth after.

but too much? bad.

like really bad. red. irritated. peeling. painful.

once a week is enough for most people.

maybe twice if your skin can handle it.

and don't use multiple exfoliating products at the same time.

that's a disaster waiting to happen.

i learned that the hard way. my face was so red. never again.

sixth. not cleaning your tools.

okay this is gross but i used to never clean my makeup brushes.

like ever.

and my beauty sponge? forget it.

then i wondered why my skin kept breaking out.

dirty tools = dirty skin.

wash your brushes regularly. soap and water.

and your pillowcases too. change them once a week.

your face is on that pillow for eight hours. keep it clean.

seventh. expecting instant results.

this is the hardest one.

we all want results overnight. i get it.

but skin doesn't work that way.

it takes time. weeks. sometimes months.

if you keep changing products every few days, you'll never know what actually works.

give things a chance.

and remember — everyone's skin is different.

what works for your friend might not work for you.

be patient. consistent. and realistic.
