okay so like

your skin is so dramatic honestly

like one season it's fine. totally fine. you're doing your thing. skin is skin. whatever.

then the weather changes and it's like oh my god what is happening to me. i'm dry. i'm oily. i'm breaking out. i'm flaky. make it stop.

and it's just like. chill. it's just winter. calm down.

but yeah winter is rough. like really rough. cold air outside. dry heat inside. wind that feels like it's personally attacking your face. and your skin is just like nope. i'm out. and you're left with this tight dry uncomfortable mess.

so winter means more moisture. like a lot more. your lightweight summer gel stuff? not gonna cut it. you need something richer. something that actually feels like it's doing something. not just sitting there.

also hot water. i know. i know. it feels so good when it's freezing outside. like standing in a hot shower is basically the best thing ever. but your skin hates it. so lukewarm. i know. it's not as nice. but your skin will thank you.

wind is another thing. winter wind is brutal. like straight up brutal. if you're outside cover your face. scarf. hat. whatever. and your lips. oh my god your lips. chapped lips are the worst. keep chapstick everywhere. bag, car, desk, pockets. everywhere. and don't lick them. i know it's tempting but it makes it worse. just don't.

and sunscreen. everyone thinks sunscreen is just a summer thing. it's not. uv rays are out there all year. they don't care that it's cold. and if there's snow? even worse because snow reflects sunlight. so yeah. sunscreen. always.

spring is weird. like temperatures go up. humidity changes. pollen everywhere. and your skin is just like what is happening. and suddenly your winter moisturizer feels too heavy. like you're suffocating. so you switch to something lighter.

but don't go crazy. don't change everything at once. introduce one thing at a time. otherwise if your skin freaks out you won't know what did it. plus allergies. spring allergies are real. pollen messes with your skin. if you're sensitive keep it simple. gentle stuff only. no harsh scrubs or strong exfoliants when your skin is already irritated. and if you get really red or itchy maybe see a doctor.

summer. oh summer. heat. humidity. sweat. oil. it's a lot. your face is just like okay i'm gonna produce all the oil now. thanks. so lightweight moisturizer. gel or lotion. nothing heavy.

sunscreen is huge in summer. like really important. put it everywhere. face, neck, ears, hands, all the places. reapply if you're outside. especially after swimming or sweating. and hats and sunglasses. not just because they look cool. they actually help.

sweat is annoying. you want to wash your face all the time. don't. that just irritates everything. blot with a tissue. and if you work out outside cleanse when you're done but be gentle about it.

makeup in summer. heavy stuff feels gross. so light foundation. tinted moisturizer. concealer only where you need it. mascara. brows. blush. done.

autumn. things cool down. skin starts getting drier again. so slowly switch back to richer moisturizers. don't wait until your skin is all cracked and uncomfortable. if you start feeling tight or rough change things up.

the core stuff stays the same though. clean. moisturize. sunscreen. morning. clean. maybe some treatment. moisturize. night. that's it. everything else is just tweaks.

exfoliating. people go nuts with this. more exfoliation doesn't mean better skin. if you have dry or sensitive skin be careful. don't combine a bunch of strong stuff at once. you'll just irritate everything. if you get red or burning or peeling stop everything harsh and just keep it simple.

and don't forget your body. arms, legs, elbows, knees. they get dry too. especially in winter. moisturize after you shower. and in summer sunscreen on your body too. it's easy to forget your arms and legs but they need it.

hands. hands get so dry. from washing them all the time. keep hand cream around. use it. and they get sun too. so maybe sunscreen on them.

lips. every season honestly. winter they get chapped from cold. summer they get dry from sun and dehydration. keep something moisturizing on them. spf if you're outside a lot.

water. drink it. it's good for you. but don't expect it to magically fix your skin. it helps but it's not magic. just drink enough so you're not dehydrated.

your skin is gonna look different in different seasons. that's normal. you're not gonna have perfect skin every day. that's fine. you just need to take care of it.

if you get persistent problems though. like really bad itching. pain. weird rashes. sudden changes to moles. go see a dermatologist. don't just assume it's seasonal.

so just check in with your skin. ask yourself. does my moisturizer feel okay right now? am i protecting my skin from whatever weather is happening? am i using sunscreen? do my lips and hands need extra care? simple stuff.

every season brings different things but your routine doesn't have to be complicated. keep it simple. adjust when you need to. listen to your skin. and don't fall for all the marketing hype that says you need a completely new routine every three months. you don't.

just gentle cleansing. good moisturizing. sunscreen. and small changes when your skin needs them.

that's it. that's literally all of it.
