okay so you want a simple everyday makeup look?
me too.
i used to think i needed like twenty products to look put together. foundation. concealer. powder. bronzer. blush. highlighter. eyeshadow. eyeliner. mascara. lipstick. setting spray. all of it.
took forever. felt heavy on my face. and honestly? i didn't even look that different.
just looked like i was wearing a lot of makeup.
so i scaled back. way back.
and here's what i figured out.
first thing. start with clean skin.
don't just slap makeup on dirty skin.
wash your face first. or at least splash some water on it.
then moisturize. every time.
if it's daytime, put on sunscreen. non-negotiable.
let everything sink in for a minute. don't rush it.
your makeup will look so much better on prepared skin.
i used to skip moisturizer because i thought it would make my makeup slide off. wrong. it actually helps everything blend better.
base makeup. keep it light.
you don't need heavy foundation.
like seriously. for everyday, who has time for that?
tinted moisturizer. skin tint. lightweight foundation. something sheer.
just enough to even things out a bit.
use a small amount. build up only where you need it.
you don't have to cover every single thing. freckles are fine. some redness is fine. real skin looks better than cakey skin.
concealer. just where you need it.
don't paint triangles under your eyes. i used to do that. so much product. so much blending.
just put it where you actually need it.
under eyes if you're tired. around the nose if you have redness. on spots if you have them.
blend it out with your finger or a sponge.
less is more. seriously.
blush. makes you look alive.
this is my favorite step.
without blush, i look dead. like actually. pale and tired.
with blush, i look fresh. awake. human.
cream blush is my go-to. blends into skin so naturally. looks like you're actually blushing.
just a little on the apples of your cheeks. blend it out.
start with a tiny amount. you can always add more.
brows. keep it soft.
your brows frame your whole face.
but you don't need to draw them on like you're in a brow competition.
just fill in sparse areas. light strokes. follow your natural shape.
a tinted brow gel is so easy. just brush it through and go.
if your brows are already full, just brush them into place. clear gel works.
the goal is defined but not dramatic. natural but neat.
eyes. keep it simple.
you don't need a whole eyeshadow palette for everyday.
one or two neutral shades are enough.
beige. brown. peach. taupe. something soft.
sweep a lighter shade on your lid. put a slightly darker one in the crease if you want.
blend. no harsh lines.
or honestly? skip eyeshadow altogether. just mascara is fine.
i do that half the time. looks clean and fresh.
mascara. opens up your eyes.
this one step makes such a difference.
curl your lashes first if you want.
apply mascara to your upper lashes. one coat. maybe two.
don't keep adding layers until it's clumpy. nobody wants clumpy lashes.
if you want super natural, use a brown mascara instead of black. softer look.
lips. something comfortable.
you don't need intense lipstick for everyday.
tinted lip balm. gloss. sheer lipstick. something natural.
pink. nude. peach. rose. berry. whatever looks good on you.
just something that adds a little color and makes you look put together.
and make sure it's comfortable. if it's drying or sticky, you won't want to wear it.
powder. don't overdo it.
if you get shiny, use a little powder.
but just on the shiny areas. nose. forehead. chin.
don't powder your whole face. it can look dry and cakey.
and if your skin is dry, skip powder altogether.
a little natural radiance looks better than matte and flat.
setting spray. optional.
you don't actually need this.
if your makeup stays fine without it, skip it.
i only use it when i need my makeup to last all day. like events or long days.
for everyday? i don't bother.
clean your brushes.
okay this is gross but i used to never clean my brushes.
like ever.
then i wondered why my makeup looked muddy and my skin was breaking out.
dirty brushes = dirty makeup.
wash them regularly. once a week if you use them daily.
soap and water. let them dry completely.
your makeup will apply so much better.
take it off at night.
this is so important.
never sleep in your makeup.
i've done it. we all have. but it's bad.
your pores get clogged. your skin gets irritated. you wake up looking worse.
just take five minutes. remove your makeup. wash your face. put on moisturizer.
your skin will thank you.
so here's the thing.
everyday makeup doesn't have to be complicated.
clean skin. lightweight base. a little concealer. blush. soft brows. mascara. comfortable lips.
that's it. that's all you really need.
you don't need twenty products. you don't need an hour.
start with a few things. figure out what works for you.
and remember — makeup should make you feel good. not like you're wearing a mask.
just enhance what you already have.
keep it simple. keep it fresh. keep it you.
